N-Acetyl Cysteine for Vitality and Nasal Support
N-acetyl cysteine, also called acetylcysteine or just NAC for short, is an amino acid and powerful antioxidant. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins.
NAC is a precursor to the antioxidant glutathione. Glutathione is often called the “master antioxidant” because it works in every part of cell in your body, helping to fight free radicals.
Glutathione also increases nitric oxide, which helps supports your arteries, blood pressure and healthy muscle function. In addition, the antioxidant helps to protect your eyes, blood glucose balance, brain and all the cells that make up your body.
Studies have demonstrated that high levels of glutathione are associated with good health and vitality, specifically in the elderly.
One study from Denmark looked at centenarians between 100 and 105 years old. The researchers found that centenarians with the highest glutathione activity also had the best functional ability—even compared people aged 60 to 79.
Another study evaluated women in excellent physical and mental health, ranging in age from 60 to 103, and found that all of the subjects had very high glutathione levels. Researchers followed these women for five years and concluded that “high blood glutathione concentrations are characteristic of long-lived women.”
And finally, researchers at University of Michigan studied people over the age of 60 and found that higher glutathione levels were associated with better health, and lower body mass index.
For unknown reasons, the body does not appear to utilize glutathione in its straight form. That’s why many experts recommended taking N-acetyl cysteine, which has been shown to increase your levels glutathione naturally. NAC is not found in food. Therefore, supplementation is the primary way your body can get the amino acid.
To promote vitality and keep your critical systems running the way they should our Advanced Cell Rescue provides 600 mg of N-acetyl cysteine and 100 mg of glycine daily, along with other powerful antioxidants. Glycine is another amino acid and building block of glutathione. Studies suggest that the combination of NAC and glycine may be even more effective than NAC alone.
The amino acid NAC is also widely recognized for both immune system support, and as a natural support for mucus-thinning. In fact, numerous publications show NAC to be a powerful mucus-buster. Once your mucus starts flowing naturally, it helps to flush out harmful irritants.
Our Flora Sinus Seasonal Support delivers unparalleled nasal comfort and relief with an exclusive combination N-acetyl cysteine and sinus-friendly probiotics.
